This week has so far been really interesting, with it feeling like we are taking a big step forward in the areas of senior coaching and development.
Our Group HR & Learning Director, Naomi Austen, and I spent a great afternoon building the leadership development plan for our next generation of directors. We are initially building this for the Axis Cleaning business, but with the aim of extending this to our security business and shared service support teams in the very near future.
The Axis Leadership development plan is in the style of a mini MBA, where the selected managers are going to spend a day a month on core areas, culminating in them using the knowledge and soft skills they have developed over that 6 to 9 month period to complete a project where we ask them to solve a business problem. They will present these projects to the Group Board for debate and hopefully sign off and implementation.
I think this will not only be exciting for our first batch of attendees (and whilst we know who they are, they haven’t been invited yet!), but also for those presenting. So far, I have managed to speak to three of the people we have identified as being our internal experts to present and lead on the core days, and they are all up for the challenge. This is certain to evolve and develop over time as we add in additional modules and elements, but I can't wait to get the first group up and running and see how they, hopefully, take huge steps forward in their professional careers as a result. Building talent and helping people be the best that they can be is a huge part of our business.
